Mancini Ignazio
Father Ignazio Mancini (Fermentino, Frosinone, 1922), was Custos of the Holy Land from 1980 to 1986. Appointed Secretary of the Holy Land in 1956, after three years, he became a member of the Discretorium, as the Italian language Discreet, as then called. When the Christian Information Centre was opened in 1973, the governing body of the Custody appointed him Director and he held this position until 1980, when he became Custos. Until his appointment, he held various courses of spiritual exercises in religious communities and gave lectures on the spiritual life. The Italian government has decorated him twice: “Cavaliere” of the Republic and “Commendatore”. In 1986, at the end of the his term of office, he was sent to Rome, to the Delegation of the Holy Land, as Delegate of the Holy Land and Superior of the House. In the name of the Custos Father, he today maintains contacts with the Commissioners of the Holy Land of Italy. He has published many articles and in certain periods was a regular contributor to a number of periodicals (La Terra Santa, Missioni Francescane, Osservatore Romano, etc.).
La mise au jour de nombreux matériaux judéo-chrétiens est venue, ces dernières années, non seulement enrichir, mais aussi transformer notre connaissance de l'Eglise primitive, notamment celle de l'Eglise de Palestine.
